Laser Tattoo Removal

While the vast majority of tattoo lovers find no fault with their ink, a large percentage of tattoo wearers have experienced tattoo regret with at least one tattoo at some point in time. Creative Re-Imagining delivers a superior solution for removing unwanted ink and tattoo modification for all motivations, not just regret. Our judgment-free clinic uses cutting-edge laser technology and custom protocols to ensure the safest treatments and optimal removal results throughout Fridley and the greater Twin Cities area.

Natural Fading of Tattoos

Tattoos are intricately inserted into the dermis layer of the skin to achieve their permanent design. Immediately upon insertion, your immune system is alerted by the puncture wound and sends bacteria eating cells to heal the skin and remove the foreign ink from your body. However, the ink particles that make up a tattoo are too large for the cells to absorb and remove all at once. Instead, the bacteria eating cells chip away small fragments of ink particles over time. This continuous removal process explains why tattoos fade and naturally lose color after many years.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

Laser tattoo removal essentially acts as an assistant to your immune system by significantly speeding up the natural fading process. Our Astanza Duality laser uses light energy to break up the large ink particles trapped in the skin’s dermis. Multiple pulses of light energy are passed over the unwanted tattoo. Each laser pulse sends a specific wavelength of light energy to target a certain color of ink. The ink particles absorb the light energy, heat up, and shatter into tiny, fragmented nanoparticles that your immune system can more easily remove through the lymphatic system.

Multiple treatments are required to achieve complete results and even tattoo fading. Each laser session targets the shallowest layer of ink and works its way down until every layer of ink has been shattered. A minimum of 6 to 8 weeks between treatments is necessary to give your skin time to heal and your immune system time to remove the fragmented ink particles.

Fading for Cover Up Tattoos

Contrary to popular belief, laser tattoo removal is commonly used for tattoo modification and fading versus complete tattoo removal. Many tattoo artists, including the talented cover-up artists at Creative Images tattoo shop, use laser tattoo removal to fade existing tattoos to create a cleaner canvas for a cover-up piece. In order to completely conceal an unwanted tattoo, most cover-ups are limited to large, dark, black tattoo pieces. This can be disappointing for both the tattoo wearer and tattoo artists.

Laser tattoo removal can lighten an existing tattoo to give tattoo artists more flexibility with their cover-up piece and allow tattoo wearers to incorporate brighter colors, elements, and other features into their new tattoo as opposed to just a large, black square.
