Laser Tattoo Removal

While the vast majority of tattoo lovers find no fault with their ink, a large percentage of tattoo wearers have experienced tattoo regret with at least one tattoo at some point in time. Creative Re-Imagining delivers a superior solution for removing unwanted ink and tattoo modification for all motivations, not just regret. Our judgment-free clinic uses cutting-edge laser technology and custom protocols to ensure the safest treatments and optimal removal results throughout Fridley and the greater Twin Cities area.

Natural Fading of Tattoos

Tattoos are intricately inserted into the dermis layer of the skin to achieve their permanent design. Immediately upon insertion, your immune system is alerted by the puncture wound and sends bacteria eating cells to heal the skin and remove the foreign ink from your body. However, the ink particles that make up a tattoo are too large for the cells to absorb and remove all at once. Instead, the bacteria eating cells chip away small fragments of ink particles over time. This continuous removal process explains why tattoos fade and naturally lose color after many years.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

Laser tattoo removal essentially acts as an assistant to your immune system by significantly speeding up the natural fading process. Our Astanza Duality laser uses light energy to break up the large ink particles trapped in the skin’s dermis. Multiple pulses of light energy are passed over the unwanted tattoo. Each laser pulse sends a specific wavelength of light energy to target a certain color of ink. The ink particles absorb the light energy, heat up, and shatter into tiny, fragmented nanoparticles that your immune system can more easily remove through the lymphatic system.

Multiple treatments are required to achieve complete results and even tattoo fading. Each laser session targets the shallowest layer of ink and works its way down until every layer of ink has been shattered. A minimum of 6 to 8 weeks between treatments is necessary to give your skin time to heal and your immune system time to remove the fragmented ink particles.

Fading for Cover Up Tattoos

Contrary to popular belief, laser tattoo removal is commonly used for tattoo modification and fading versus complete tattoo removal. Many tattoo artists, including the talented cover-up artists at Creative Images tattoo shop, use laser tattoo removal to fade existing tattoos to create a cleaner canvas for a cover-up piece. In order to completely conceal an unwanted tattoo, most cover-ups are limited to large, dark, black tattoo pieces. This can be disappointing for both the tattoo wearer and tattoo artists.

Laser tattoo removal can lighten an existing tattoo to give tattoo artists more flexibility with their cover-up piece and allow tattoo wearers to incorporate brighter colors, elements, and other features into their new tattoo as opposed to just a large, black square.

  • How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed for complete removal typically ranges from 3 to 12 treatments, with the average amount being 5 to 8 sessions for complete removal and 2 to 4 treatments for fading. We use a variety of factors to determine the number of treatments your unique tattoo will need, including the age, size, and location of your tattoo, ink density, ink depth, old vs. new tattoo, amateur vs. professional tattoo ink, patient skin type, patient health, and pre-existing scarring.
  • Where are you located?
We are conveniently located inside the Creative Images Tattoo & Body Piercing shop in Fridley, MN. They are home to some of the most talented tattoo artists throughout the Twin Cities area. If you complete laser tattoo removal treatment to fade an existing tattoo for a cover-up, we’ll give you a 10% voucher to use with an expert cover-up artist at Creative Images Tattoo & Body piercing shop.
  • What happens if I have one session and don't want to continue?
Virtually all tattoos require more than one session to fully remove. Tattoos are comprised of multiple layers of ink, so numerous treatments are needed to target and break up each layer of ink particles. We cannot guarantee your satisfaction without a full completion of laser removal sessions, but ultimately it is your choice. Some clients choose to only have a few sessions to light a tattoo for their artist to do a coverup.
  • How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
We use upfront, size-based per treatment pricing with no hidden fees. Our prices start as low as $50 and increase based on the size of your tattoo. We also offer free consultations to help you feel comfortable and get to know our friendly staff before starting treatment. We also offer discounted treatment packages and have many specials running right now, including 50% off your first treatment throughout February 2021.
  • Does the laser hurt?
Laser tattoo removal is a very tolerable procedure. The pain is often compared to being slapped by a rubber band or bacon grease. Customers with a lower pain tolerance may feel discomfort, but if you can sit through a tattoo, you can definitely tolerate laser tattoo removal. Luckily, we use the Cryo-6 cooling machine to help cool your skin before, after, and during treatment. This advanced technology provides consistent alleviation and comfort throughout the entirety of your laser session. We can also recommend a numbing cream if needed.
  • How long are treatments
Unlike tattoo application, laser tattoo removal treatments are extremely quick. Treatments can last as little as a few seconds to 15 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being removed.
  • Have you been trained?
Yes. Our licensed laser technicians received training and certification from New Look Laser College, the world’s leading laser tattoo removal program. They earned the designations of Certified Laser Specialist (CLS) and Laser Safety Officer (LSO), and are highly knowledgeable in operating advanced Q-switched lasers like our Astanza Duality laser. Proof of that training is available at the shop for your peace of mind.
  • What is the best way to book a session?
